Comfy Paralympic World Champion

Canadian Paralympic Team member WJ Noni Hartvikson sent us this video of her majestic horse, Onyx, getting into the trailer. And, of course, only the best Trek Boots will do for Onyx to enjoy maximum comfort on the road.

A Thermal two-time Paralympics and one-time World Championships horse, Onyx is 21 and has retired from International competition but he is doing a very important job as schoolmaster for Noni’s working student, Courtney Palleson.

Thoroughbred Hooves and their Delicate Dance

When it comes to thoroughbreds, who hasn’t heard the stereotype about “bad thoroughbred feet”? While we’ve all met OTTBs with hoof issues, some have great feet or start out having junk feet off the track, and are then rehabbed to get stronger feet and sound gaits. So what’s the cause? Are thoroughbred feet genetically awful, or is it environmental/care…or somewhere in between?

Kate Anderson, founder of the Center for Racehorse Retraining, has noticed some pretty amazing changes in the thoroughbreds under her care once they adapt to her facility – including massive hoof changes. What is the difference between Regular and Slim Sole Cavallo Boots?

Let’s delve into the differences between Cavallo Hoof Boot Regular Sole and Slim Sole:

Cavallo Regular Sole is designed for horses with hooves that have a rounder shape, where the width is equal to the length.

The Slim Sole is designed for hooves that are a narrower shape. They accommodate hooves where the width is at least 1/4 inch narrower than the length.

Why are they different? Getting your horse’s Cavallo sole width just right will provide a snugger fit, enabling the boot to always say on the hoof! Remember to measure your horse’s hooves accurately to choose the right fit. Make it easy on yourself – just send us your measurement photos and we’ll send you a size recommendation!

“I have longed for a trip in the forest! We put Tumult’s Cavallo BFB Boots on to combat the rocks, so were were able to go for a long rein hike together with Ziggy fastened to his harness.
